Book Volunteer (Gateshead)

Context:

Working in the busy Gateshead shop, you will be engaged in sorting, pricing and merchandising the book donations, aiming to maximise sales from the donations we receive to raise as much money as possible for Oxfam.

Frequency: Ideally 1 or more 4-hour shifts per week.

Key responsibilities:

  • Sorting books in line with the standards required for the shop
  • Pricing books using Oxfam's book sorting guidelines
  • Cleaning and preparing books for sale in the shop
  • Dealing with deliveries and storing books safely
  • Culling of books as required

Skills and competencies:

  • A genuine interest in books and reading
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Reliability and the ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to work on own initiative
