Volunteer Shop Assistant (Gateshead)

We need volunteers to sort, price and cull the donations we receive within the clothes department. We are looking for people with a good eye for quality clothes and labels.

Through merchandising, rotating stock and customer service, you'll develop skills valued by employers and help Oxfam help people around the world. You'll get training and support relevant to your level of experience, even if you're a total newcomer to retail

Frequency: Ideally a minimum of one 4-hour shift per week. Various days/shifts available.

• Sorting, valuing and displaying donated clothes and accessories
• Visual merchandising
• General retail duties
• Engaging with our customers, supporters and donors
• Replenishing the shop floor
• Ensuring the shop is clean and presentable
• Operating the till (optional)
• Supporting colleagues in your team
• Ensuring Oxfam's procedures are followed

• Reliable and punctual
• Enthusiasm and the willingness to learn
• Proactive and able to work on your own initiative
• The ability to work as part of a team
• Good communication skills
• Basic numeracy
