Books Volunteer (Putney)

Context:

At Oxfam, Putney, we are looking for fun and reliable volunteers that are willing to help maintain our Books section. An interest in books is preferable and training will be given as regards pricing, organising and antiquarian books. You will be helping us in our mission to assist those in need in fighting poverty and poor water sanitation both at home and overseas.

 

Ideally we would need someone for 4 hours in the latter part of the week, 10am -1pm or 1pm - 5pm per week.

Key responsibilities:

  • Pricing books
  • Organising the booking within the stock room and the shop floor
  • People interaction and selling - Till operation optional
  • Researching antiquarian books
  • Presentation skills

Skills and competencies:

  • Basic organisational skills
  • Can be inexperienced as training given, although an interest in books is desired
  • Good communication skills
  • Basic IT skills
  • Able to commit to a regular shift and be punctual
