Health and Safety Volunteer (Stanmore)

Context:

Oxfam takes its Health and Safety responsibilities very seriously to ensure that our volunteers are able to volunteer in a safe working environment.

 

This volunteer role will be responsible for conducting the health and safety checks as well as being the focal point for health and safety in the shop. This is a really interesting and responsible role for someone who has past experience or wants to learn about health and safety.

One shift a week  (4 hour shift) or as required

Key responsibilities:

  • Conducting scheduled health and safety checks
  • Coaching the shop team in health and safety
  • Maintaining the health and safety paperwork
  • Providing support and guidance to the shop team on health and safety requirements and best practice - in line with Oxfam's procedures
  • Communicating with team members
  • Learning about Oxfam's health and safety procedures and applying them

Skills and competencies:

No retail experience is required. We're looking for people who :

  • Have an interest in occupational health and safety
  • Have the ability to self manage and be a role model for good practice
  • Are organized with good admin skills
  • Are friendly and helpful
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Are willing to familiarize with Oxfam's health and safety management procedures and systems
