Volunteer Book Assistant (Stanmore)

Context:

At Oxfam Stanmore, we're looking for volunteers to help lead our book section. Volunteering with us can give you the opportunity to build retail skills and help raise money for those less fortunate. We're looking for reliable, enthusiastic individuals with a keen interest in books.  Training will be given on sorting, pricing, merchandising and researching books.

Ideally 2 shifts a week  (4 hour shift)

Key responsibilities:

  • Sorting and pricing donated books
  • Organising and maintaining book section of the stock room
  • Researching books on line
  • Merchandising book section in the shop
  • Possible training of other book volunteers
  • Communicating with other team members

Skills and competencies:

No retail experience is required. We're looking for people who are:

  • Friendly and helpful
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Able to commit to covering a regular shift and be punctual
  • Comfortable with using the computer
  • Organised with an eye for detail
  • Interested in books
