Climate Hearings

Shorbanu in her previous landThis autumn and winter a series of Climate Hearings will be held across the UK from as far north as the Scottish Isle of South Usit to Bristol and London in the south of England.

Oxfam is running these events with partners and aims to:

  • Raise awareness of, and show how, climate change is affecting people in the UK;
  • Link this evidence to other international case studies to raise awareness of the fact that climate change is costing lives and increasing poverty;
  • Make clear what the UK public can do to fight the affects of climate change, including taking personal and political action.

Climate Hearings aren't just happening in the UK; over the past few months 90 hearings (in 19 countries, attended by 160,000 people) have happened all over the world and many powerful testimonies have been gathered.

An international hearing will be held in Copenhagen this December just before the UN Conference on Climate Change. At the hearing all the testimonies gathered from around the world will be brought together to demonstrate un-ignorable truth that climate change is costing lives and that world leaders need to put vulnerable people first during the conference and agree a fair, adequate and binding deal for all.

If you or someone you know has been affected by climate change, help us to lobby world leaders by testifying at one of our events. Contact us and add your voice to thousands from around the world, be part of change.
