Welcome to the village
Welcome to the village. Poverty is a big problem, but it's not so big that it can't be stopped. All it takes is a little effort from each one of us. One big village, one big difference: you.
This is the place for young people to find out about what others are doing to tackle poverty, events going on around the country and how to get involved.
The Here & Now Challenge
The climate’s changing. People are dying. Meanwhile, politicians are too busy talking and not busy enough doing. Ever think the world needs a bit of a kick-start?
Time for young people to show the world what climate action looks like. Take the Here & Now Challenge, do a bit of DIY carbon cutting, and give politicians the push they need.
You’ll be joining a passionate network of young people all taking 30 climate actions over 30 days in November. From cutting-carbon antics (like biking it to school) to making some noise about it, we’ll support you to take actions that count.
What’s it all about?
By showing the world what young people are doing, together, to tackle climate change, you can help inspire the change we need to see.
Together, we’ll help save lives, by showing our commitment to finding a fairer way of living. And demanding world leaders wake up and follow our lead.
What do I have to do?
1. Choose your challengeGetting involved is simple. Sign up below, or speak to your region’s Youth & Schools Campaigner to receive an action pack and choose your own 30 climate actions for November. You could choose from suggestions in the pack, or decide on your own.
2. Get some supportOnce you’ve planned your personal challenge actions, you can maximize the impact by getting support from family and friends. Using the handy form in your action pack, invite people to support you by pledging to take action themselves, donating to Oxfam’s climate change work, or simply adding a petition signature. You’ll get stickers to thank them too!
3. Tell us about it (and the world!)Send your tips, quotes, pictures or videos to youthteam@oxfam.org.uk and help us show the world what real action looks like. We’ll feature your stories on our website, YouTube Channel and Facebook fanpage. Together, we can show politicians, and the public, how much we’re already doing for a fair and safe future. Then demand they take your lead.
