Kent, cakes and climate change

On 4 July 2009, thousands of people from up and down the UK turned up at a summer fete outside Kingsnorth Power Station in Kent to have a lot of fun delivering a serious message. Here's how it all went down.

The event was organised - right on the site where energy company E.ON are pushing to build a new coal power station - to tell Ed Miliband, the government minister in charge of UK climate change policy, that a clean low-carbon future can be the only way forward.

Despite warm words from the government and energy companies alike, CO2 emissions in the UK are still on the rise. The main reason for this? Burning coal.
