Oxfam 365 Alliance - a life-saving partnership

Oxfam saves many thousands of lives every year, by responding immediately to emergencies. In order to do this, we need to maintain a state of constant preparedness, with emergency experts and equipment ready for action at a moment's notice.
Oxfam is a world leader in disaster response, renowned for providing clean water and sanitation facilities in times of emergency - to save lives and prevent further losses by stopping the outbreak of deadly diseases. Every year we respond to emergencies in over 30 countries around the world at an annual cost of over £7.9 million.
The Oxfam 365 Alliance is a strategic partnership between Oxfam and companies to provide ongoing support to Oxfam's emergency work, 365 days of the year.
Oxfam 365 Alliance partners, including our founding partners The Vodafone Group Foundation and Aviva plc, provide upfront funds that enable Oxfam to respond immediately when each emergency hits. The 365 Alliance is all about 'preparedness at all times' and allows companies to demonstrate their ongoing commitment to social responsibility.

An emergency response - flooding in India, Bangladesh & Nepal
In July and August 2007 heavy rainfall and flash floods devastated parts of India, Nepal and Bangladesh affecting tens of millions of people. In some areas, water was as deep as 10 feet and families were struggling to survive, marooned in villages with little access to basic necessities like clean water, food and shelter. Oxfam was on the ground within hours providing lifesaving relief including:
- Delivering relief packages of food aid and water purification materials to 203,470 people in Bangladesh
- Providing more than 300,000 people with shelter materials
- Supplying 20,000 hygiene kits
- Launching a public health campaign, to combat the spread of disease in affected communities
