Gifts in kind

Some companies decide that supporting Oxfam with gifts in kind is a more suitable way for their company to help our work. We are happy to accept these donations when they fit with the needs identified by our programme staff.

A great example of how gifts in kind have met a need identified by Oxfam during an emergency was JCB’s contribution of equipment following the Asian tsunami in 2004.

After seeing the devastating impact of the tsunami, JCB offered their support and teamed up with Oxfam. They ran a coupon campaign in national newspapers: for every coupon returned to JCB, they donated £10. This enabled JCB to donate more than £200,000 of machinery, enough for six JCBs to be sent directly to Indonesia, and two forklift trucks to Oxfam's emergency warehouse in Bicester.

“We were very impressed with the way Oxfam dealt with our call. We were able to form a strong relationship in a short amount of time, and we knew that we could trust Oxfam to use our donations quickly and where they were most needed.”
Chris Wright, Worldwide Marketing and Brand Director
