Fundraising ideas for April – June 2010
A great way to raise money is to plan your fundraising around major national or international events. Over the coming months there are a number of events that provide great themes for fundraising.
April Fool’s Day (1 April)
Ask people to sponsor you or a friend to do something silly – leg waxes, head shaving and fancy dress always go down well.
Easter (1-5 April)
There are loads of opportunities to fundraise around Easter – you could bake Easter themed cookies or chocolate cornflake nests, organise an egg-rolling event or an Easter egg hunt around the office, or make and sell Easter cards.

The Queen’s birthday (21 April) and the Queen’s official birthday (12 June)
Embrace all things British and hold a tea party to raise money for Oxfam, or organise a film night to show your favourite British film.
St George’s Day (23 April)
Why not organise a St George’s Day party, or serve full English breakfasts in your community hall?
May Day (1 May) and early May bank holiday (3 May)
Organise a May Day dance or sell flowers to friends and colleagues to mark the arrival of summer.
Spring bank holiday (31 May)
Take advantage of the bank holiday and – hopefully – good weather by organising a fun family day out – perhaps a sports day or a picnic.
FIFA World Cup 2010 (11 June – 11 July)
The possibilities are endless: why not organise a sweepstake, hold viewing parties, or start a five-a-side tournament when football fever hits?
Royal Ascot (15-19 June)
Hold a “race night” – get a DVD of some horseracing and ask your friends to bet on the outcome. And there are lots of ways to raise money on the night as well as selling tickets.
Summer Solstice (21 June) or Midsummer’s Day (24 June)
Throw a big outdoor summer party with jelly and ice cream for the kids and Pimm’s and cricket for adults.
Wimbledon fortnight (21 June – 4 July)
Organise a sweepstake at work, or ask your local tennis club if they would hold a tournament in aid of Oxfam.
