Hold a Strike Hunger Party

Celebrate the importance of food, and join our delicious campaign to tackle the World Food Crisis. By putting on a dinner and charging your guests a small donation to attend, you can help Oxfam to get help to the people who need it most.

Getting started

  1. Set the date (anytime between now and January)
  2. Invite your friends and family to come (ask for £10 donation each)
  3. Source lovely Fairtrade ingredients
  4. Create a slap-up feast
  5. Sit down with your friends and family for a good chat around the dinner table, have a great time and help to tackle the world food crisis too.
  6. Pay in your money here, call 0300 200 1244 or post us your total add in a note telling us what you’ve done!
  7. Why not make it a regular event – with someone else hosting next time!

Charging a few of your friends a tenner or so for dinner could help Oxfam make a real difference. You could even charge them an extra fiver to get out of the washing up!

Fundraise online
Make a donation using Virgin Money GivingThere are changes afoot in the online fundraising world. JustGiving is now facing stiff competition from Virgin Money Giving and Bmycharity.

We have reviewed the propositions and believe that Virgin Money Giving is the best option for both fundraisers and charities. This decision is based on their lower costs and the great support they’re offering.

Oxfam will continue to be able to receive money from all of these companies, but to make your money go further we recommend you use Virgin Money Giving to promote your fundraising.

Make your party look the part
The ‘world change starts here’ fundraising toolkit has balloons, invitations and stickers – everything you need to make your party look the part. And if you need extras, just give us a call.

Other ways to raise money

Anyone can do something to tackle the food crisis. It doesn’t matter what you do, big or small, you will help families affected by the crisis.

Other ideas:

  • Turn your Christmas party into a fundraiser
  • Sell cakes at work
  • Have a winter picnic
  • Be a washing-up fairy for a week
  • Get sponsored to do anything (please be safe!)

Tell us about it!
Your fundraising efforts are hugely inspiring to other people – here in the UK and around the world – who are also doing their bit to end world poverty. So don’t be shy. Please tell us about your event and send us your best shots of the action. You might find yourself and your friends starring in Oxfam’s supporter magazines or on the Oxfam website.

Email your story with pics to events@oxfam.org.uk or send us a letter. You can also use this email address if you have any enquiries.

We look forward to hearing from you!
