1. Oxfam has a limited number of Gold Bond places. You can apply if you pledge to run the Flora London Marathon 2009 for Oxfam, and pay in a declared sponsorship of £2,000 or more to Oxfam (via Oxfam’s stipulated payment methods) by 30 June 2009. Your application will be subject to a selection process, so that Oxfam can ensure that Gold Bond places are used to best-possible effect (as determined by Oxfam).
2. You agree to pay a £300 deposit to Oxfam, as a guarantee that you will raise, or exceed, the amount that you pledge. Oxfam will refund your deposit no later than 28 days after you have paid in your pledged amount of sponsorship money. Oxfam reserves the right to keep all (or part) of your £300 deposit if you pay in less than your pledged amount by 30 June 2009.
3. Written applications for an Oxfam Gold Bond place must be submitted on the application form on the previous page and sent to the address indicated on the same form.
4. If your application is successful, Oxfam will notify
you
in writing, and will explain how to pay your deposit.
You must pay your deposit within 7 days of notification;
otherwise you may risk losing your guaranteed place to
another applicant.
5. If your application for a Gold Bond place is not immediately successful, Oxfam will notify you in writing that you have been placed on Oxfam’s waiting list for Gold Bond places. You must contact Oxfam by 8th October 2008 to advise whether or not you still require a Gold Bond place or you have gained a place through the London Marathon ballot. Failure to contact us by the above date could lose you the chance of a Gold Bond place.
6. Any existing regular donations which you make to Oxfam do not form part of the total raised through sponsorship.
7. Oxfam will advise you on the recommended way(s) to pay in your sponsorship. This is to ensure that Oxfam can easily trace funds that you pay in. Oxfam cannot be liable for cheques lost in the post, or monies paid to Oxfam in any way other than those that Oxfam has recommended. The amount that Oxfam deems to have been raised by you will be the amount that Oxfam has recognised as having been paid in to its bank account by you.
8. Payment deadline for sponsorship is 30 June 2009. If you need more time to collect sponsorship, please let Oxfam know in writing in advance of this date. Oxfam will refund your £300 deposit within 28 days of receiving sponsorship payments that equal or exceed the value of the amount that you pledged.
9. Any monies received by Oxfam under the Gift Aid scheme (or any other charity tax scheme) do not count towards the total value of the sponsorship raised.
10. If you cancel your Gold Bond place because you have gained your own place in the Flora London Marathon Ballot, and you are still running to raise funds for Oxfam, you must notify Oxfam by 8th October 2008. Oxfam will refund your £300 deposit and reallocate your place to a runner on its waiting list. If you do not contact Oxfam by this date, you risk forfeiting part or all of your £300 deposit.
11. If you decide not to run the Flora London Marathon – or decide to run for another charity – you must inform Oxfam before 13th October 2008. Oxfam will take a £50 administration fee from your £300 deposit and refund the remainder within 28 days. If you do not inform Oxfam before this date you will forfeit all of your £300.
12. If you cancel your Gold Bond place after 13th October 2008 but before 16 January 2009, we will refund your £300 deposit, minus a £50 administration fee, if we can find someone to replace you, and only once all other Oxfam Gold Bond places have been filled. If we cannot find a replacement, you will forfeit the remainder of your £300.
13. IMPORTANT: If you sustain a training injury after 16 January 2009, please contact the Oxfam Marathon Support Team. It is important that you do not take part in the Marathon unless you are completely fit to do so. Oxfam will defer your place and your £300 deposit and your fundraising commitment for a maximum of 2 years. However, you must agree to abide by all Terms and Conditions that Oxfam publishes for the subsequent event. This includes any increase in the amount of sponsorship money you pledge to raise.
14. The rewards listed in this brochure will be made only after the pledge money has been received by Oxfam. Ballot runners only receive those rewards marked with an asterisk once £800 has been received by Oxfam.
15. All Gold Bond holders agree that images taken on the day may be used by Oxfam to promote the Flora London Marathon in the future.
16. By signing and submitting the Gold Bond application form to Oxfam you will be deemed to have read and accepted the above Terms and Conditions.
