Oxjam Regional Manager (Voluntary position, only 5 positions available)
Key Purpose: You will create and manage a multi-venue music event in your local area as part of the nation-wide Oxjam music festival.
Location: Home based.
Ideal experience for: Candidates looking for music, management or charity experience.
Commitment: Seven months (17th April 2010 to 14th November 2010) 10+ hours a week. Between September and the end of October, 20+ hours a week are required.
Oxjam is a music festival made up of hundreds of events around the UK in October. These events are organised by people who know and love their local music scene. All in aid of Oxfam.
As a Regional Manager you will recruit and manage a team of talented volunteers to create a multi-venue music event in your local area. This could include up to 100 bands playing in up to 10 venues, accessed by the purchase of one wristband, over one weekend in October. Your event will be part of the 35 citywide Oxjam Takeover events that will help make Oxjam 2010 a success.
Key responsibilities:
1. You will recruit and manage a team of talented volunteers to deliver a multi-venue music event in your region. This event will take place across multiple venues on a single day.
2. Take responsibility for exceeding fundraising and campaigning targets for your region agreed with your Oxfam regional office.
3. Direct and advise your volunteer team to recruit other volunteers to hold smaller local events throughout October. You and your team will support a network of approximately 15-25 music event organisers, offering support advice and contacts to aid their Oxjam journey. Organising meetings and socials with the volunteer teams will be useful to share ideas and coordinate events.
4. To be in regular communication with the central Oxjam team and co-ordinate with other Regional Managers nationwide. You will be in regular phone contact with your manager.
5. To attend the Oxjam Regional Manager Induction session (17th and 18th April 2010) and the Oxjam National Conference (5th and 6th of June 2010).
Skills and experience:
- Experience of leadership positions, professional or within teams, clubs or societies.
- Excellent project and time management skills.
- Excellent inter-personal and communications skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- A passionate interest of your local music scene.
- Experience organising music events or similar (desirable).
