Latitude festival review
Read about the wonderful success of Latitude 2008.
Latitude festival
What to expect: Latitude is growing in popularity, it has a laid back crowd who want a good time catching great music, comedy, literature etc in a beautiful site in the East of England. It can get hectic at times but has a great atmosphere. The Oxfam campsite has a great community feel, with everyone looking out for each other.
Review:
Latitude is in its 3rd year and has learnt lots of the lessons of the previous 2 years. It has established itself as a firm favourite on the stewarding calendar with places filling fast. Festival Republic knows how to put on a good show and did not grow the festival size in comparison to 2007.
The stewarding operation got off to a generally good start despite a steward co-ordinator (who will remain nameless – ahem Ade) forgetting the sides to the Oxbox Marquee. Luckily these arrived the next day from Bristol. We got the Stewarding operation underway and everyone worked hard to make things work at beginning so everything ran smoothly from there on in.
Latitude is based at the lovely Henham Park near Southwold on the East Coast. This is the furthest East Oxfam go in the festival season but I can thoroughly recommend it as a festival, in fact of all the festivals I work at it is up there as my favourite (well along with Reading which is still holds top spot in my selection – Ade)
There is so much to see and do at Latitude, there’s comedy, literature, poetry, arts…you name it and of course as a steward you also get the chance to be a pixie in the woods. This was a position which was in demand this year; those who did it seemed to have a good time.
I would recommend early application for Latitude in 2009, you won’t regret applying!
