Context:
The role is in the Outreach section of the campaigns department, in this there are particular individuals called ‘outreachers’, who take to the streets by going to various types of events in order to talk to the public about poverty and what can be done to overcome this. An outreach co-ordinator would oversee these outreachers and organise events for them to campaign at.
Key Responsibilities:
- The outreach co-ordinator (OC) role is important in facilitating the knowledge of Oxfam’s campaigns to the public in their local area.
- This voluntary role will involve recruiting, managing and supporting outreachers in your area to develop as campaigners.
- Working on your own to organise outreach opportunities and liaise with event organisers in order to have outreachers at their events.These events could be anything from a duck race in your local park, a skateboarding competition to campaigning at Coldplay’s tour.
- Each region will have a number of OC’s who will have a designated target market or geographical areas that they will cover. These OC’s will work alongside each other to support and develop a sense of community for outreachers and encourage the support of Oxfam’s campaigns in an informal and fun way.
- We are looking for people who have knowledge of their area and the ability to form contacts with event organisers to create fun and exciting ways to connect with the public.
- In addition, you will also keep up-to-date data of outreachers and new recruits and events you have arranged, which will be fed back to the support executive. Full training for the position will be given on the 5th July.
- Some UK travel may be required for this role for training purposes. These training related travel costs will be reimbursed.

We have lots of plain black handbags and are looking to get a team together to re-style each bag to sell in the shop. Each bag will be sold with a card crediting the volunteer responsible.
Sewing and gluing will be involved, and volunteers with an interest in current fashion trends would be an advantage.

Volunteer Finance Assistant in Newcastle
The Newcastle Finance Office is part of the Trading Division of Oxfam. Oxfam has a network of c.770 shops throughout the UK and Newcastle office deals with about 400 of them. The main role of the Finance Office is to assist with the recording and processing of the shop income and/or associated expenditure for the Oxfam shops.
Commitment:
At least 6 hours a week for a minimum of 3 months.
The office is open Monday to Thursday 9am to 5.15pm and 9am to 5pm on a Friday.
Responsibilities:
- Checking and entering data from income returns/logging and filing shop returns
- Checking accuracy of invoices and processing them for payment
- Problem solving and dealing with queries
- Customer Care and phone answering/processing mail in/ assisting with mail outs/ maintaining and operating databases
Key skills:
No previous experience needed as full training is provided. However some or all of the following would be an advantage:
- Good basic numeracy and attention to detail
- A basic knowledge of or a willingness to learn IT skills
- Organised approach to work/ good team player
