Learning & Development Communications Assistant
Learning & Development Communications Assistant
Oxfam House, Oxford
Commitment:
2 or 3 days a week for 6 months (with possibility to extend).
Department name:
The Learning & Development Team is placed within the Corporate Human Resources Department. The team are responsible for Learning and Development initiatives that have an organisation-wide reach. They work in an advisory capacity with regional HR and other specialist/functional teams and act as a “broker” – helping teams share ideas about learning and personal and organisational development throughout Oxfam.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to finding innovative ways to promote and market L&D initiatives via the intranet and other communication routes.
- Collate and produce content for a regular newsletter (to involve interviewing staff, gathering and writing materials, and formatting).
- Support the team in the creation of new learning resources, and ensuring existing materials are in line with the Oxfam brand.
- Assist with the evaluation of international courses and coaching relationships.
- Examine team systems, databases and intranet site and review for ease-of-use. (On occasion other work to support the team may be necessary).
Skills and competences:
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Interest in Learning & Development and Oxfam.
- IT skills: Good knowledge of PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in order to meet deadlines.

Buying & Merchandising Administrator
Oxfam Activities Distribution Centre, Bicester
Commitment:
Minimum 3-4 months – could become 6 months or longer.
Department name:
Boutiques Buying and Merchandising Department.
4 days per week Monday-Thursday 9am-5.15pm daily.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administrating and liaising within department and with suppliers and stores on behalf of Assistant Buyer & Merchandisers
- Inputting and order processing & progressing
- Assisting in the preparation of: weekly sales analysis & reports, store replenishment and allocations as well as store communication packs
- Being liaison point for designated stores for Boutiques Team in queries relating to the above.
- Critical path management & order tracking
- Communicating with suppliers and stores

Assistant to Shop Manager
Esher, Surrey
Commitment:
7 hours per day (9:30-17:30, 1-hour lunch break), 3 days per week for 6-9 months
Department name:
Assisting the shop manager in day-to-day duties of management of the busy shop with a particular focus on improving new product and food sales.
Key Responsibilities:
On-going responsibilities
- Improve new product and food sales by: promoting Oxfam’s new product range locally, developing sales techniques and opportunities in the shop and managing day-to-day presentation and stocking of the goods.
- Assist the shop manager in developing shop for target audience.
- Assist the shop manager to maintain continuity and consistency of the shop environment by assigning tasks to the volunteers on rota and enforcing basic rules.
- Assist the shop manager to keep the shop clean, tidy and well-displayed, as well as ensuring goods on display are refreshed regularly.
- Assist the shop manager with rapid donation sorting as and when necessary
- Carry out daily till operations, fill in daily financial forms and sort out cash to close the working day as and when necessary
Projects
- New product and food sales improvement
Skills and competences:
- Basic commercial awareness and a good eye for shop design
- Basic marketing skills
- A good eye and interest in fashion with a good understanding of current fashion trends
- Basic numerical and financial skills to help with end-of-day financial duties
- Good communication skills to please a customer base with high expectations

Responsibilities:
- Training to the level of assistant manager
- Know and understand all aspects of an Oxfam Shop
- Understanding the work Oxfam does
