Work with us: family friendly working
Dependency leave
This allows staff to take time off for the urgent care of a dependant (eg children, elderly relatives, partner). The amount of leave is determined according to need and in consultation with the Line Manager.
Urgent private business
In consultation with the relevant Line Manager up to four days in any one leave year may be taken to attend to business that cannot be planned for.
Compassionate leave
When a member of staff needs to take more time off for reasons of serious family illness or bereavement, Oxfam will normally pay for up to ten working days’ absence. Each case will be considered by the relevant Line Manager.
Partner leave
Staff whose recognised partner is pregnant, or whose partner is adopting a child under the age of 18, (and who are not claiming adoption leave) are entitled to up to two weeks' paid leave.
Maternity leave and pay
Maternity entitlement depends on length of service.
Adoption leave and pay
Eligible staff may take paid leave when a child under the age of 18 is newly placed with them for adoption.
Job sharing
Oxfam is prepared to consider proposals from staff and management for job sharing where appropriate in accordance with the criteria set out in the Policy and Procedures Manual.
Flexible working hours
Where the nature of the work allows, flexible working hours can be agreed by the individual with their Department Head. For office staff, a ‘core time’ is usually required between 10.00am and 4.00pm.
Workplace nursery (Oxford)
Oxfam operates a workplace nursery during normal working hours.
