A diverse and international group, they provide support where it's needed most. Moving directly to areas of the world where humanitarian crises have arisen, you will be working with communities, other Oxfam teams and partner organisations to provide emergency aid and pave the way for long-term development work.

Current projects

Each year more than 30 million people flee their homes a result of conflict and natural disasters. Over 500,000 people are killed in war. The livelihoods of many more are destroyed, and families are broken up.

Whenever lives, health, and livelihoods are threatened as a result of natural disasters, famine or armed conflict, Oxfam will take a decision to launch an emergency response. In 2007, we responded to 40 emergencies in 34 countries – some that made big headlines in the UK; others that didn't.
