The JRF's annual Minimum Income Standard (MIS) figures, published tonight, are defined by what members of the public think people need to have a socially acceptable standard of living. The results for 2012 show that:
· One in four families* in the UK lack a decent standard of living
· Since the recession 3 million more people have been pushed below the MIS
Private funds often lack transparency, accountability and can lead to land grabs
Oxfam today calls for greater scrutiny and control of the funding for development channelled through financial intermediaries such as private equity funds, banks and credit agencies.
