Get inspired Get Started

The secret to a brilliantly successful fundraiser is to base it on something you enjoy.

So, whether you're crafty or sporty - or anything in between - here are a few ideas to get you started.

Get creative...

Get creative

'Crafternoon' teas are the next big thing. Or they will be once you've held one. Simply ask someone in the know to join you and your friends for the afternoon and teach you all to make something simple, like a new woolly hat. Charge guests a set donation, get some cakes in and keep everyone topped up with tea.

Food is always a winning theme for a get together. Hold your own 'Come Dine with Me' and ask friends to make a donation to take part. Or how about extreme tea partying? Tea on a boat, in the rain - it's up to you. You could hold a bake-off at work, a coffee morning with your parent-and-baby group or even a hot-dog-and-movie-night where your friends donate the price of a cinema ticket to watch a great film round yours.

Get fit...

Getting  sponsored to walk, cycle, run or swim is a great way to fundraise - it'll keep you healthy too. But it doesn't stop there. You could hold a zumbathon or a football tournament in return for donations. Sell tickets for a family-friendly sports day and bring back some retro classics. Egg and spoon, space-hopping and welly throwing, anyone?

Get together with friends and hold a pamper night in return for a donation. Don your face packs, eye pads, foot baths - the whole shebang. Or how about inviting a beauty therapist to donate a few hours of their time and provide treatments for your friends? You can cover their costs and charge a small amount for entry, refreshments and treatments.

Your workplace is an untapped mine of potential donations. Make the most of it by holding cake sales, quiz nights or sweepstakes. Or, if you want to get creative, hold a caption competition using an old holiday or school photo where entrants pay to enter. And, if you can bear the shame, how about a baby-photo-guessing competition?
