The Project

Oxfam will work to improve the general health and well-being of children by providing clean water and sanitation facilities. This will stop children and teachers having to carry their own water with them, if they have a safe and reliable source of water. This project will specifically target children and their families who have been affected by the recent conflict in Gaza.

Project aims

This project is part of a wider initiative to improve the lives of children and families living in Gaza. Oxfam will focus on improving the health of young children by:

  • Upgrading water and sanitation services, including sink and toilet facilities, in six pre-schools
  • Carrying out structural restoration work on six school buildings
  • Providing hygiene kits for the families of children in pre-schools
  • Promoting safe hygiene practices to children, with assistance from teachers and community leaders
  • Ensuring that facilities are well maintained and kept clean, by establishing healthy environment committees
  • Carrying out regular hygiene related discussions with families/principal care-givers
