The Project

At the core of the project are the Community Advisory Boards (CABs). The CABs bring together a wide range of representatives from the community to develop outreach activities towards children, their parents or caregivers and their teachers. An example of such activities includes kid’s camps, where HIV positive children can spend time with other children in a similar situation.

Project aims

With the right support, education and targeted outreach activities – we can help prevent HIV positive parents passing on the disease to their children.

This project will:

  • Promote early HIV diagnosis and treatment of children, including those who are not yet entitled under the Thai universal care coverage
  • Expand HIV prevention and care training, education and outreach activities
  • Increase awareness of Prevention of Mother To Child Transmission (PMTCT) of HIV
  • Train health workers to promote life skills. For example: reproductive health and overcoming the social stigma
  • Identify the needs of HIV-infected children on antiretroviral therapy – and their caregivers – in order to inform future support activities and national policies
  • Ensure CABs are able to support affected communities in the long term
