[Photo credit: REUTERS/Daniel LeClair, courtesy of alertnet.org]With many Guatemalans still reeling from the erruption of the Pacaya Volcano on 27 May, Tropical Storm Agatha hit Central America on 29-30 May, causing severe flooding across parts of the country.

At least 152 people have been reported dead in Guatemala, and more than 150,000 people evacuated from their homes. Around 70,000 people are currently staying in temporary shelters.

Oxfam's response

Oxfam is providing support to people affected by the floods by distributing clean water, sanitation and hygiene materials, and helping people to reach safe shelters.

We are also running short-term agricultural and livelihoods projects to help ensure those people who have been evacuated from their houses and land are able to find ways of supporting themselves.
