In Senegal, Oxfam's focus is on peace-building, sustainable livelihoods, and Fair Trade.

Promoting peace and reconciliation

In 2004, a peace accord was signed bringing an end to more than two decades of conflict between the government and rebel forces in the Casamance region of Senegal.

Communities that fled to neighbouring Guinea Bissau have slowly started to return to their homes.

How Oxfam is helping

We support peace committees that seek to manage local conflicts and promote forgiveness and reconciliation. We continue to campaign globally for tougher controls on the arms trade.
