Yemen

In Yemen, Oxfam's focus is on women's rights, education, health care, disaster preparedness, and helping people have a say in the decisions that affect them.
Strengthening women's rights
Yemen is one of the least-developed countries in the Arab world. The widespread lack of opportunities for women is contributing to the country's slow pace of development.
Female literacy stands at just 30 per cent, making it particularly hard for women to assert their legal and civil rights.
How Oxfam is helping
We raise poor women’s awareness of their legal rights and provide legal aid and counselling to support those who have fallen foul of the law. We also help fund schools to help more girls get an education and provide loans to women to help them set up small businesses as a source of income.
