Stuck In 2nd @ The Commercial Inn 3pm-4pm

Genre

Reggae, Ska

Description

Stuck in 2nd bring a refreshingly happy vibe to the world. Born amongst the doom and gloom of early adolescence, the band one day had a startling revelation that the world isn't so bad, and you can wear a smile on your face and feel alright if you want to. A three piece setup with an organically roots sound, the band has seen so much positivity come from their works over the years. Heavy lines from the bass, ballsy beats from the Djembe and that "oh so catchy" reggae infused guitar makes for some of the most accessible music for any audience to enjoy. The saying "Play what you love, Love what you play" has never been so relevant as the band continues to grow and evolve their sound. With the release of the new E.P titled "Set Free", and the success of its predecessor "Reggae Heat" great things are on the horizon for Stuck In 2nd In a nut shell its three great mates on a stage, having an awesome time entertaining along the way.

She delivers each track with a soothing vocal, which has a range and tone with the potential to drag her in to the mainstream musical conscious, willing or not. Many have dubbed her the ‘female Ed Sheeran’, not just a ginger thing, but we happen to think this is lazy journalism. As her vocal becomes ever more frantic and she breaks in to a half rap it’s clear to see this girl has a unique talent. Barton House

Marc Bloc & The Breezes @ The Crown Inn 5.15pm-5.45pm

The first time Marc and Bee jammed at Lytisha's party, they kept getting asked how long they'd been singing together, and an idea started to form. Joined in 2009 by Chris on bass, the Breezes came into being, and Lytisha's egg-shaking and frog-knocking were soon on board, though she left the band at the end of 2010. The latest addition is Alamootie's Shetland-style fiddler Milli, filling out the sound with a rich folkiness; and with four voices, there's some lush harmonising going on too. The catchy, jiggable songs are mostly Marc's originals, with a good peppering of crowd-pleasing covers, and one or two trad folk songs. Timothy J. Simpson and the Monstrous Dead @ The Chequers Inn 10pm-10.45pm

Genre

Rock n Roll

Description

"Timothy J Simpson and the Monstrous Dead blend the naivety and gumption of The Replacements with Clash-style hooklines and the soul and power of the Missisippi blues giants, making them one of the most engaging live prospects this side of the Black Keys. The band was initially formed by Singer Songwriter(and UK songwriting competition finalist) Timothy J Simpson to play the heartfelt modern folk and blues of his critically praised debut album "Our glorious hero battles the man". However, since this time the band has grown into a powerful and limber rock trio in it's own right - without sacrificing the soul and wit at the heart of Tim's songwriting. With a second album due in December this year's Oxjam represents a great opportunity to view one of Nottingham's finest in an intimate setting, doing what they do best."

Genre

Indie/Rock

Description

Paper Cape will close the Chequers Inn Stage. Paper Cape started out properly in 2009 as an acoustic act playing original songs. But after recording all the demos as a band Dan realised at the start of 2011 that the next step needed to be taken and play Paper Cape songs as a band. In April 2011 the chance came up with a request to play the Confetti/Julie Cotton Foundation Battle of the Bands Semi Final. With five days before the gig a band was put together and some intense practicing was done. So to the semi final. Nobody in the band was expecting quite the reception that was given. A three song set was played with a fearless passion, and a pass through to the final was given with rapturous applause. The future looks very good for Paper Cape
