Oxjam MANCHESTER Acoustic Blend
Date
15/12/2011Description
Aleks and Maja have also got motivated to bring a positive change through art and music. Locked in a Salford flat away from riot hype, powered with gallons of coffee and packets of biscuits, we finalised a plan of a music event in Manchester. The aim of the evening is to fundraise money in aid of Oxfam by promotion of emerging artists of North West. It is all about acoustic, folk, reggae music - a blend of music styles to indulge your senses! The Taylorandthemason, The Quangos, Jeremiah Ferrari and other acoustic acts - you just can't miss it, guys... Did I say the event is all about the music? Well, yes and no... Come round and discover the variety of art gifts i.e. handmade jewellery, which can be purchased at an affordable price. Quite handy when it comes to crazy Christmass shopping in the economic crisis, huh? Come round, bring you friends, family and some positive energy! Thank you Alex and Maya Peace! xxx

Description
Taylor and the Mason are an acoustic duo based in Manchester, made up of singer-songwriters Sally Mason and Becky Taylor. They have been gigging in and around Manchester pedalling their own brand of folky-acoustic-pop type music for about two years. Having met at uni, they only realised that they could both sing and play guitars after they had graduated and so with a little bit more time on their hands decided to hit the harmonies. Their influences vary wildly from Motown,Rock and Roll, to Joni Mitchell. Expect an eclectic mix of acoustic sounds with extremely close harmonies. Reviews: “Absolutely tremendous!” "Delicious""Good start to the show. Upbeat, accessible original songs."

''The Quangos is four piece band from Manchester, young and full of presence. Heavily influenced by 60s Rhythm and blues, Soul and Motown including Bands such as Spencer Davis group, The Rolling Stones and The Beatles. The vocals are hugely important in this band with 3 way harmony's complimenting Josh's Soulful voice running throughout songs. The emotion and tone of Ray Charles intertwined with a modern twist makes this bands Lead Singer original and Massively likable. The way in which the band work together makes you stop and listen, there isn't a dull moment in their set; stops and starts, catchy hooks and melodies makes this band one to watch.''

'Celebrating the obscure, the introvert and the lonely... First conceived in early 2009, Any Idle Clone is a solo music project in which all material is written, performed and produced by Manchester based singer-songwriter Dan Conley. Tracks from the debut album, released in 2010, feature a strong acoustic influence, relying on piano and guitar accompaniments, stripped back vocals and an emphasis on story-telling lyrics.'

''Big Door Open first started with Justin Bulmer, Jason Moate and Ross Vickery back in 2007, Nick Latham was brought in on bass in 2008. In early 2010 Steven Hayles auditioned for the band as lead vocals and successfully "BDO" was fully formed. Since being a full band we have written lyrics, recorded our first EP Demo and are now looking to gig in and around the Uk where ever possible. We have obtained a steady but still rising fan base and are looking to expand this for the future ahead.''

We believe this opportunity will not only enreach us with invaluable event management experience but also get us to meet many creative people.
