Track 7. Taking it to the Treasury
The UK government has also had positive experiences of gender budgeting. The team at the Treasury that works on gender issues, childcare and work-life balance put together a pilot project to look at gender and expenditure. Two government departments chose programmes to take part in the pilot, The Department of Trade and Industry, which looked at its Small Business Service and the Department for Work and Pensions, which looked at its New Deal for Lone Parents.
