GenderWorks Training

training workshop

GenderWorks is running two different courses related to the Gender Equality Duty: Making the Gender Duty Work and Policy into Practice.

Making the Gender Duty Work

If you are involved with women living in poverty, you need to know how to make the Gender Equality Duty work for you.

Did you know that your local authority has a responsibility to talk to you about your experiences and the services you need?

Would you know who to talk to and what to say if you don’t feel this is happening?

Oxfam is running “Making the Gender Duty Work”, a training course that will:

  • explore the issues surrounding poverty, and why gender is important
  • help you understand the Gender Duty and what it means for you
  • build your skills and confidence to hold local authorities to account
  • give you loads of ideas and resources to use in your work
  • provide ongoing support after the course has ended
  • help you make real and positive changes for people in your area.

We will help with the cost of childcare, provide lunch and refreshments, and cover your travel expenses.

Places on the two-day course are limited, so apply NOW.

Sessions are still to run in:

London – 30 March 10.00-16.00 and 31 March 9.30-16.00

Policy into Practice

image If you work for a local authority or public body, you need to know how to take into account the different needs and experiences of women and men in your policies and services in order to meet your obligations under the Gender Equality Duty.

Do you understand the relationship between gender and poverty?

Do you know how to conduct a gender analysis to find out how policies affect women and men differently?

Do you know how the National Action Plan can help tackle the problems faced by women living in poverty?

Oxfam is developing “Policy into Practice”, a training course that will explore all these issues and help you become a “Gender Champion”. If you’d like to receive more details, please email GenderWorks: genderworks@oxfam.org.uk.
