ReGender – working with women, men and regeneration

paper peopleSuccessful regeneration schemes understand that a strong gender analysis is at the heart of powerful and effective programming – right from the design and planning stage through to service delivery. Under pressure to deliver regeneration programmes, many organisations and groups involved forget that local people are actually the experts – no one understands better the different challenges they face and needs that they have as men and as women.

Oxfam’s ReGender Project works with local communities, voluntary organisations and local, regional and national government to ensure that both women’s and men’s needs are understood and addressed in regeneration schemes.

“I got motivated to get involved in regeneration work because of the decline in the area and knowing that there was money available to tap into. I knew what my area needed."
