Fundraising online

Setting up an online fundraising page through JustGiving will make reaching your target a whole lot easier! Friends and family will be able to visit your page and donate straightaway - so you won't have to chase them for sponsorship. Online fundraising makes the whole business a lot easier for you, your friends and Oxfam.

Get the most out of your page.

Set up your page

Visit the JustGiving site and click on 'Create your page'.  You'll be guided through a step-by-step process; the important thing to remember is that you need to select the race you're taking part in and 'Oxfam' as your charity, so when the money reaches us, it will automatically be added to your fundraising total.

Top Tip: Update your fundraising page with news of your training progress. Lots of people won't know what's involved in preparing for a race, so tell them!

Personalise your page

Add a photo of you in your Oxfam running top.  Add a fundraising target. Write about your training so your friends and family get an idea of what your challenge involves. Write about how Oxfam will spend the money you raise. Keep the page updated!

Top Tip: Fundraisers that add a target to their page tend to raise 60% more than those that don't. Be ambitious with your target to show your sponsors you're serious.

Tell everyone about your page

Once your page is set up and looking good, email the link to your friends, family and colleagues.  Promote your page on Facebook and Twitter.  Try to make your asks as personal as possible - and remember, you're doing something amazing so be proud of it and don't be afraid to ask people to sponsor you!  Most people will want to show their support.

Top Tip: Try to make sure the first few donations on your page are generous ones.  People tend to follow the crowd, so if the first few donations are generous, hopefully the next ones will be too!
