Charity place or own place?

680x150

If you're looking into taking part in a running event, you probably keep hearing about 'charity places' and 'own places'. Here's exactly what these terms mean, so you can decide how to secure your very own race place.

Charity Place

You can get a place in a race directly from Oxfam. This is called a charity place, and we have them in nine races this year:

You can get one of these places by filling in a short form on our website. Each race has its own entry fee, which helps Oxfam cover the costs of the support we provide from sign-up to race day, and its own fundraising pledge.

Own Place

When we refer to 'own places' we mean places that are bought directly from the race organisers.

If you buy a place from a race organiser, you will pay an entry fee to them - then you can choose which charity team to join. We hope you'll choose Oxfam.

It doesn't matter what race you have a place in - it can be the London Marathon or your local 10K - we would love to have you on the team.

Some races fill up really quickly and getting a place from the race organisers can be difficult. The good news is, if you don't manage to secure your own place, you can still run in a lot of events by getting an Oxfam charity place.

If you've already got your own place in an event and would like to join the Oxfam team, let us know and we'll send you pack and a running top!
