War Witch film screening as part of Take One Action
WAR WITCH

If you love film and are passionate about global change - don't miss the Take One Action film festival.

The festival (21 Sept to Oct 6) - offers a wide choice of films, with great panel discussions.

As part of our campaign for a strong Arms Trade Treaty, we've joined Take One Action to screen the powerful drama War Witch (15) - directed by Kim Nguyen - and winner of "Best narrative feature" at the Tribeca Film Festival 2012.

The film follows Komona: a 14-year-old girl in a conflict ravaged African state who is kidnapped and forced to become a child soldier.

We're showing this excellent film in Edinburgh and Glasgow with the screenings will be followed by a panel discussion, including Oxfam Scotland's Campaign Manager Jamie Livingstone.

"A genre benchmark and a breakout work for writer-director Kim Nguyen" - The Hollywood Reporter

We're also supporting the Scottish Premiere of Lucky (15) - a drama about the impact of HIV in South Africa.

Avie Luthra's acclaimed drama follows ten year old Lucky as he struggles to honour a promise at his mother's grave to make something of himself by leaving the security of his remote Zulu village for the big city.

"delicate and real…extraordinarily touching" Variety

The film will be followed by a discussion featuring the film's director Avi Luther and Sara Cowan from Oxfam Scotland.
