Publisher: Hutchinson & Co Ltd, London. Hardback, 1178 pages, c.1935. Cover, in green cloth boards with black titling and 'spook' motif to front and spine, is in decent condition with some shelf wear, minor bumping to extremities of spine and a slight bow to front cover. Book is in fair condition overall with tanning to endpapers and page block edges. Split in front endpaper exposing the spine webbing but cover has not separated from book and overall binding is reasonably firm. Some light creasing to first few pages.
A wonderful collection of some of the best and most creepy supernatural stories ever written from the golden age of the ghost story. The book contains over 70 very spooky and nightmarish stories from the likes of M.R James, H.G. Wells, Charles Dickens, Hugh Walpole, Algernon Blackwood, Edgar Allan Poe, E.F Benson, Oliver Onions, Walter de la Mere and many others.
