This is the second (1813) edition of "A Guide To The French Language”. Full Title: “A Guide To The French Language Devised For Persons Who Wish To Study The Elements Of That Language, Without The Assistance Of A Teacher”. This book was written by J.J.P. Le Brethon. The book contains guides to French pronunciation and grammar, as well as a section of exercises and a dictionary of idioms.

The book is bound in half-calf leather with marbled boards. The book has gilt edges (aeg) as well as gold lettering and decoration on the spine.

Condition: the marbled boards have some moderate denting, general shelf-wear, marking, and tearing. The book’s covers have turned corners. The spine is affected by some moderate shelf-wear as well. The book’s fore-edge has some light marking as well. The pastedown and ffep both have inscriptions in pen, while the interior pages suffer from some moderate foxing, discolouration, and staining throughout. There is also some occasional light annotation inside the book. However, all the text is legible. The binding is good and strong.
