This is the story of the formation of the 8th (Scottish) V. B. King's Liverpool Regiment, like many others, created during the South African wars.

Paperback book in poor condition. Spine badly chipped at both ends, with paper loss and much wear. Wear along all edges of covers. Top corner of front cover and bottom cover of back cover creased and chipped. 4cm closed tear and some smaller ones on back cover. Front cover stained. Inscription on front cover in pencil of previous owner and member of the battalion - also some pencil comments by him inside. Some pages are stained. Hinges splitting - covers becoming loose but still attached.

Located in the centre of the historic market town, we are open seven days a week. You will find a wide and interesting range of stock, including a great selection of children's books, popular and classical music on vinyl and CD, vintage Penguins and other paperbacks, and quirky and collectable items. Our stock is selected by knowledgeable volunteers, catering for both general readers and specialists. We are happy to check our backroom stock for wanted items and also offer a request service. Our themed windows are usually changed every two weeks, with our December Christmas displays offering a diverse and unusual range of gift ideas.

We welcome your donations, which can be brought to the rear of the building (via the Lower Kings Road Car Park). Please contact us before bringing large quantities to discuss arrangements.
