Seventh Edition published in 1899 by Thos. De La Rue & Co. Gilt lettering and decoration on the board covers. Adverts on the rear pages.

Written by Joseph Bennett, a retired champion ((1870, 1880–81), and edited by "Cavendish". Illustrated with about 200 black & white illustrations; line drawings and diagrams of the billiard table for specific ball positions.

A very thorough and useful reference to the game of Billiards, It starts with a chapter on the history of the game, then a chapter on the various records achieved, followed by a chapter on the table itself. The main contents are 196 diagrams of various ball positions on the billiard table with notes on how to play on the facing page.

The cover is marked and has wear on the corners, with a small water stain on the front right-hand corner. The cut edges are dusty and discoloured & darkened, with foxing spots. On the rear end-papers their are 3 hand-written diagrams. Foxing on the end-papers. The rest if the pages are not annotated and are fairly clean about from the foxing slightly spreading in from the edges. Binding sound.
