Two contiguous volumes of a six volume set of contemporaneous history written in the seventeenth and early eighteenth century by Bishop Burnet, a noted theologian, linguist, churchman and historian.

Oxford University press. Second edition enlarged. Full leather with gilt edging to the boards. Five bands to the spine with gilt lettering on black background for titles. The top of both spines much damaged with material missing and the bottom of volume iv is similarly denuded. A band of cellotape has been applied to the top and bottom of both volumes ,presumably in an attempt to secure the upper margins of the spine cover. Marbled end pages with book plate from Marlborough College Library. Vol iii has 414 pages and vol iv 576.
To be sold as a pair but we would split if requested.
