Warne hardback with no DJ. There is no date but the preface is dated 1879 and the dedication in ink on the ffep is dated 1894. Green cloth covered boards with gilt lettering to front and spine and a picture of man blowing trumpet on the front. Embossed pattern on back. The text block is completely detached from the covers. There is a small stain on the fore edge of the text block from about pp 360 to 583. This does extend onto the reading surface but not far enough to get close to the print. The print is in large type and on each page it is surrounded by a plain border. There are several black and white illustrations. Undated.
A nice book probably worth careful repair, particularly when the asking price is taken into consideration!
