Green cloth board covers with gilt lettering on the spine.Slight wear and scuffing of covers, particularly Volume II, but binding is secure. Some foxing of endpapers and age-darkening of inside pages. A few minor tears and one loose colour plate. Otherwise in good condition.

Containing receipts, processes and memoranda for workshop use based on personal experience and expert knowledge with 2,500 illustrations and indexes of 18,000 items.

An extraordinary mixture of practical activities ranging from preparing concrete to cleaning new paint brushes; stretching ropes for pulleys to testing the strength of liquid ammonia. As well as offering useful instructions, this 'cyclopaedia' reveals a lot about the world of the mechanic in early 20th century Britain.
