Childhood by Millicent & Githa Sowerby 1907 Chatto and Windus

£35.00

Product description

Publisher: Chatto and Windus, 1907. Hardback. Cover, in green cloth boards with grey cloth spine, gilt titling to spine and front and small gilt illustration to front, is in fair condition with a little rubbing to spine, a little wear to top and bottom of spine and a little water staining to one edge of rear cover. The hinge has a surface spilt at bottom 2 inches on rear spine. Book is in fair condition overall with some light browning of pages although all colour illustrations are clear and bright. Binding is slightly loose and beginning to split at bottom of front flyleaf and has split at rear flyleaf. However all pages are secure. Small tear at top corner of illustration on page 37 which does not affect the illustration itself. A little creasing at bottom right of illustration page opposite page 12, once again not affecting illustration itself.
Overall a charming book with lovely colour illustrations very redolent of that Edwardian golden age of children's book illustration.
