Cordoba

£29.00

Product description

The full title is "Espana sus Monumentos y Artes - Su Naturalezaz e Historia; Cordoba" Foto-grabados y heliografias de Laurent, Joarizti Mariezcurrena. This Spanish language book is dated 1884 and is thus a first edition.

Daniel Cortezo publisher in hardback. No DJ. This book has had a hard life. Thus there are a lot of erosions of the boards (see photograph) and considerable wear to the top and bottom of the spine cover. The pattern on the front was clearly very ornate and the central coat of arms contains four castles and five lions in various postures. Marbled end pages with a Chilean book seller's label on the reverse of the front board. There is an admixture of black and white illustrations set into the text and a series of sepia photographs mounted on firm brown paper. There are also some colour reproductions. One of the mounted photographs, together with the next two pages of print (131 134) is totally detached and lying free. All the brown mountings tend to be a bit grubby. There is a lovely fold out panoramic view of the Cordoba bridge which remains in very good condition.
These are undeniable defects, but it is still a nice book and would repay some careful restoration. Priced to take account of its condition
