Dictionnaire de L'Académie française. Sixième édition DTome premier et seconde

£60.00

Product description

Two large volumes. Both are, of course, entirely in French. Neither has a date of publication although an illustration on the net of a p.air of books with an identical frontispiece is dated 1835. There is leather covering to the spine with 5 raised bands and some gilt lettering. The upper margins of the spine covers show mild wear. The boards and spline cover are encased in transparent plastic which has been applied with considerable skill and care. For no very apparent reason a small green paper fragment is included on the front of Volume 2 and a similar yellow one on the spine cover. Despite the protection there is a little corner wear. Patterned end papers. Good binding . Volume 1 has 911 pages and covers A - H while Volume 2 has 961 pages and covers I - Z. Vol 1 has a picture of the Institute de France on its title page and Volume 2 an image of the inside of a library.
Published by the Institute de France in hardback. Good binding and no marks.
These large and decorative volumes are, I am afraid, very heavy (4.3 Kg without packaging) and so transport costs will have to be negotiated.
