Dwarf Long-Nose

£12.99

Product description

By Wilhelm Hauff. Translated by Doris Orgel. Pictures by Maurice Sendak. Dwarf Long-Nose is Wilhelm Hauff's most famous fairy tale. The story of how Jacob is turned into an ugly dwarf by a wicked fairy, works for the Duke as a chef and finally regains his normal shape with the help of an enchanted goose is as well known to children in Germanic countries as Snow White or Sleeping Beauty. The illustrations by Maurice Sendak are full of life and humour and reflect his enthusiasm for the great German illustrators of the 19th century.

Published in 1979 the book condition can best be described as well loved. The hard cover has creases to the edges, corners and spine and has multiple scratch marks as if the book has been leaned on when writing. All pages are in tact and although the binding is visible are not loose however there are brown marks throughout either due to age or possible food stains (as can be seen in the third photo) and discolouring to edges of pages. Inner front and back pages (as seen in the second photo) contain black illustrations on a gold background. All other pages are on white page with black and gold illustrations throughout.
