Gerald and Harry : or, The Boys in the North (1868)

£29.99

Product description

Published in 1868 by Griffith and Farran. Gilt decorated cover and spine, coloured end papers.

This is a scarce book, a Victorian tale of two teenage boys and there adventures in the North, including Norway. A classic adventure story for older children/young adults, with illustrations by Zwecker. A story that can be enjoyed by people of all ages.

The author Emilia Marryat (later Emilia Marryat Norris, 1835–1875) was a British author. The daughter of author Capt. Frederick Marryat, she was known as a children's author who wrote adventure novels infused with moral lessons in the style of her father.

There is a gift inscription in the front cover that is repeated on the first page. It is not very legible but appears to read: 'Edwin L Savage Xmas 1868'.

Some wear and bumping to the extremities, particularly the spine and corners. There are some splits in the binding, although no pages are detached. A few light marks on the pages, however they are all complete and generally in a good condition.

A scare and rare book.
