Gypsies, or Why we went Gypsying in the Sierras

£39.99

Product description

Eastern Book Company, Boston, 1881
Lewis, Dio
This is an account of the various adventures experienced in the 1870's by the author and his family, particularly in the Yosemite area. It is humorously written, but conveys some of the social tensions of the time. There are about 30 pen drawings.
Hardback with a striking front cover in green, gold and black. Good use is made of period fonts and graphic decorations.
416 pages
Condition: good, considering its age. Some wear on the edges of the covers and spine; slight paper tears to the fly-leaf, and inside cover. The dedication page is beginning to tear loose. There is a small tear on page 63 (half-inch). A pencilled reference to the previous owner and donor is before the frontispiece. Some foxing has marked introductory pages. None of these badly spoil the book.
