Heathen Days 1890-1936 [1943]

£10.99

Product description

American edition, published in 1943 by Alfred A Knopf. Scarce in the UK.

Essays written by the American author, H L Mencken, which first appeared in 'The New Yorker'. Will be of interest to a wide audience, as the essay's subject range is wide reaching and the author's excellent style of writing.

Henry Louis Mencken (1880 – 1956) was an American journalist, satirist, cultural critic and scholar of American English. Known as the 'Sage of Baltimore', he is regarded as one of the most influential American writers and prose stylists of the first half of the twentieth century. He commented widely on the social scene, literature, music, prominent politicians and contemporary movements.

There is an ex-libris sticker on the inside front cover for: 'Vard Stieglitz'.

Although the book is in sound condition still with a tight binding, the covers and page edges are very yellow stained.
