Editions Du Pavois, date 1945-1946. A limited edition, numbered 858/1800, printed on vellum, four volumes in slip case (19 x 14 cm), xii + 209 + 218 + 188 + 192 pages. This is a beautiful edition, with original wood block illustrations by Jean Lebedeff in red and black, including, frontis , text, vignettes, and the paperback folded cover.
The paper covers are protected by cellophane, top edges very slightly dust stained o/w in fine condition with the folded pages uncut, no marks or inscriptions. Slip case, 2 edges split.
The Heptaméron is an unfinished collection of 72 stories written by Marguerite de Navarre, ( 1492 – 1549). The story takes place over seven days, hence the title.
