History of the 72nd Anti-tank Regiment Royal Artillery

£200.00

Product description

Bound in faded and stained blue cloth boards with the name in red on the front cover.

Previous owner's name in ink on the fep.

Front blank page contains list in pencil of Officers Killed and Officers Wounded. There are pencil annotations to the text throughout.

Extract from the Foreword "The 72nd Anti-tank Regiment was in existence for only five years. But during that time such a Regimental spirit was built up that it was decided to record the activities of the Regiment and its members during its period of service ... The book has been written by members of the Regiment for members of the Regiment"

Extract from the Epilogue "The history has now been written. In it are included all the activities of the Regiment that are still firmly fixed in the minds of the writers. It is appreciated too well that hundreds of incidents have been omitted that are much more important to you than those included. Nevertheless, if we have succeeded in reminding you of those incidents we have done our job."

A fascinating account for a long since disbanded Tank Regiment which will be of great interest to military historians.

At the present time, there are no copies of this book on the internet and the only research copy we have been able to trace is held by the Imperial War Museum library.
